VMV is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a multi-million dollar contract with Downer EDI Rail for the supply of nine types of custom designed LED lighting units for 78 NSW trains over the course of several years. The contract award follows on from VMV’s successful design and delivery of prototype units in 2008-2009.

Under the contract, VMV will supply Downer EDI rail with :

• 9 different types of LED Lighting units, specifically designed to suit Downer EDI's requirements.
• Through Life Support for the lifetime of the trains (30 years).

The main contract will run for approximately 36 months with lighting units being built within VMV's Melbourne facilities. The contract will create employment for a number of people, with continuing work prospects for the future.

The successful development of a number of diverse units for this application required meeting demanding and specific requirements of one of the most experienced rail manufacturers in the world. This contract built upon the considerable expertise that we have developed in the field of LED lighting. As a result, we are confident that our LED lighting products will place Australia at the forefront of lighting technology world wide“.
